Using less electricity at Park View Center pays off
CentraCare Health Melrose received $5,200 from Melrose Public Utilities for energy savings it implemented throughout the center. CentraCare Health earned the incentives by participating in the Bright Energy Solutions® program, which encourages energy-efficient choices for utility customers by offering cash incentives for equipment that uses less electricity.
Prior to construction of the new assisted living facility and upgrades to the existing one, CentraCare Health met with utility to discuss ways to add energy efficiency measures. Ultimately, the company decided to upgrade lighting to LED lights and incorporate ENERGY STAR® kitchen equipment that will lead to almost 80,000 kilowatt-hours saved annually and a reduction in monthly peak demand of 10.5 kilowatts.
Combined with its 2014 lighting retrofit, CentraCare has earned nearly $10,000 in rebates and is saving almost 150,000 kilowatt-hours annually.
