Luverne events center earns rebate for efficiency upgrades
Luverne Municipal Utilities presented Grand Prairie Event Center a check in the amount of $14,809 as part of the Bright Energy Solutions® rebate program. This program encourages energy efficient choices by offering cash for the purchase of qualifying equipment. The ultimate goal of this program is to help customers save money on their electrical usage and help control the use of a valuable resource.
When the event center owner decided he wanted to remodel the building, he partnered with an electrician, HVAC contractor and the City of Luverne to upgrade the lighting and HVAC system. The event center, which seats up to 500 people, now features LED lighting, high-efficient furnaces and air conditioners, programmable thermostats and energy-recovery ventilation units. These energy-saving choices have an estimated savings of nearly 95,000-kilowatt hours annually. In addition to the rebate, these choices could save as much as $8,681 each year on their bill.
Bright Energy Solutions is offered to customers of participating municipal utilities who are members of Missouri River Energy Services.
